Could This Be ADHD?

Many people with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) go undiagnosed for years, especially adolescents and adults. Symptoms can be subtle, misunderstood, or mistaken for anxiety, stress, or other mental health conditions. ADHD can affect a person's ability to focus, stay organized, manage time, and complete daily responsibilities at school, work, or home. Because symptoms vary from person to person, a comprehensive ADHD evaluation is important to determine whether ADHD is contributing to these challenges. Early diagnosis and personalized treatment can help improve focus, productivity, relationships, and overall quality of life.

ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders and can affect individuals of all ages. Although symptoms often begin in childhood, many people are not diagnosed until adolescence or adulthood, when increasing academic, professional, or personal responsibilities make the symptoms more noticeable. With an accurate diagnosis and individualized treatment, many people with ADHD are able to improve their focus, organization, and overall quality of life.

You may benefit from an ADHD evaluation if you experience:

If you experience persistent difficulties with attention, organization, or impulse control that interfere with your daily life, an ADHD evaluation can help determine whether ADHD or another condition may be contributing to your symptoms. Common signs include:

  • Difficulty sustaining attention or completing tasks

  • Frequent distractibility or mental overload

  • Disorganization or time management challenges

  • Restlessness, impulsivity, or emotional dysregulation

  • Ongoing struggles at work, school, or daily life

An accurate evaluation helps identify the underlying cause of these challenges and supports the development of a personalized treatment plan.

What Is ADHD?

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, executive functioning, impulse control, and emotional regulation. Executive functioning includes important mental skills such as planning, organizing, prioritizing, managing time, and completing tasks effectively.

ADHD presents differently in each individual and often appears differently in adolescents and adults than it does in children. While some people experience hyperactivity, others may primarily struggle with inattention, forgetfulness, disorganization, or difficulty maintaining focus. Because ADHD symptoms can overlap with anxiety, trauma, depression, sleep disorders, or learning differences, a thorough and accurate evaluation is essential to ensure the correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

MOXO Computerized Testing for ADHD

The MOXO assessment is an evidence-based, computerized test used to objectively measure attention and executive functioning in real-world distraction environments. Unlike questionnaires alone, MOXO evaluates how an individual performs while visual and auditory distractions are present, providing valuable insight into attention, impulse control, and cognitive performance during everyday situations.

The MOXO test measures four key domains:

  • Attention – the ability to maintain focus on tasks over time.

  • Timing – the ability to respond accurately and consistently at the appropriate moment.

  • Impulsivity – the tendency to respond before thinking or act too quickly.

  • Hyperactivity – excessive movement or activity that may interfere with concentration and task completion.

MOXO is never used alone. It is one component of a comprehensive ADHD evaluation that also includes a clinical interview, medical and behavioral history, symptom assessment, and your provider's professional evaluation. Combining these tools helps ensure a more accurate diagnosis and supports the development of an individualized treatment plan.
